Quite some years ago, when the number of Maine Coon breeders was still small and  the Maine Coon as a breed was still rare, the idea to establish an European, a Swiss breed club for the Maine Coon - as a counterpart to the American MCBFA -came up. After some effort it was founded on January 22, 1995. The statutes and a code of honor were written and some committed breeders decided to establish under the name of MCA a club for the benefit of the Maine Coon breed. Regular events, breed-, genetics- and breeding seminars have in the years since brought together "old" and "young" breeders thus making new friends, breeders and lovers who delight in our breed.

The MCA is and wants to be also in future an association for all owners and breeders who will work for the benefit of their beloved Maine Coons. Together we will expand our knowledge in the future due to the regularly scheduled meetings and breeders seminars and in maintaining our mutual friendship.

The MCA understands itself as a European association bringing together breeders and enthusiasts under one roof to preserve, protect and promote this wonderful breed.


The MCA is a member of the SOCIETE SUISSE DU CHAT DE RACE and thus a member of the
FEDERATION FELINE HELVETIQUE (FFH) and the FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE FELINE (FIFé)
